Southern Plant Hire Partners with Kinaway!

Overview of the Partner’s business

Southern Plant Hire is a Victorian based plant and truck services provider supporting major civil construction and infrastructure projects. Our business combines a diverse internal team with a large network of independent subcontractors operating plant and trucks across the state.

Our operating model gives us a unique opportunity to create meaningful social impact through the way we procure, subcontract, and partner with suppliers.

Engagement with the Indigenous sector & actions toward reconciliation

Southern Plant Hire is committed to strengthening the Indigenous economy by embedding inclusive procurement and culturally safe practices into our operations.
Our specific actions include:

  • Prioritising procurement from certified Aboriginal businesses, including those registered with Kinaway and Supply Nation.

  • Embedding a Social Procurement Addendum into all subcontractor agreements to encourage culturally responsible business practices and sourcing.

  • Supporting pathways for Indigenous participation through broader commitments to workforce inclusion, employment readiness programs, and mentoring initiatives.

  • Upholding zero tolerance for black‑cladding, ensuring all Indigenous procurement is authentic, respectful, and integrity‑based.

  • Promoting cultural safety by encouraging cultural awareness training for subcontractors where needed.

While we are still early in our formal reconciliation journey, our actions to date reflect a genuine commitment to building long‑term, collaborative relationships with Aboriginal businesses and communities.

Why did the Partner sign up with Kinaway?

We joined Kinaway to ensure that our commitment to Indigenous procurement is backed by genuine engagement, trusted relationships, and direct access to verified local Aboriginal businesses.

  • Help us identify authentic Indigenous suppliers

  • Build cultural capability within our supply chain

  • Connect us to a community of Aboriginal businesses aligned with our values

Ultimately, we joined Kinaway because we want to move beyond compliance and towards meaningful, long‑term economic participation for Aboriginal businesses.
