The Acknowledging Country Workshop is an interactive session hosted by Ashleigh Bartley and is designed as a safe space to learn, build and deliver authentic Aboriginal engagement through Acknowledging Country.
The workshop will clarify the difference between a Welcome to Country and an Acknowledgement, who is permitted to give them, and how to perform an Acknowledgement of the Country you stand on in a culturally respectful manner.

NAIDOC Week (National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee) occurs annually in July and celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians all over the country and overseas.

The Victorian Aboriginal Business Awards is a yearly event celebrating the outstanding achievements of Victorian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses. These awards recognise the hard work, resilience, and dedication that Victorian First Nations businesses have to the self-determination of our people.
Created by Kinaway Chamber of Commerce, the awards aim to inspire, reinforce pride, and share the stories of First Nations business owners. Corporate Allied Businesses that work alongside Mob to create meaningful opportunities are also honoured for their support and commitment.

The Remember a Local – Name a Place campaign invites Victorians to nominate someone who has made a lasting impact on their community to be considered for commemoration in a place name.
We are excited to have Gordon Ross, First Peoples Place Names Officer at the Department of Transport and Planning, as the facilitator for this session. Gordon will guide us through the important conversation about renaming places in Victoria. He will explain why some existing place names are not culturally safe or respectful and explore the impact this can have on communities. Using real examples, Gordon will highlight how thoughtful naming can celebrate local heroes, reflect cultural values, and ensure that our shared spaces feel welcoming for everyone.

Indigenous Business Month is a month-long celebration and showcase of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, highlighting their innovation, excellence, economic independence and self-determination.
Held annually between 1-31 October, the platform seeks to inspire the next generation of Indigenous entrepreneurs and build awareness of the role Indigenous business plays in creating jobs, preserving culture and driving economic development.
